just another sunday with Rasputin
meanwhile, assuming the optimistic path that you will be back reading and keep in touch no matter where our life paths take us, i continue babbling with you in mind… and all the other fantasy people and imaginary friends too… hopefully she (ENTER?... oh sweet bejebus yes, i would enter... but that's just between me and her, so let's just continue with this entry as if that literary ejaculation never happened) will stop by unexpectedly next week, or even Thursday, and join me in frolic and fun and two concerts, two shows, a meetup or two, and the Ohio State Michigan game… or something like that…
speaking of random pop news, did you notice that two new blogs have sprouted from the tree of madness?... well, maybe directly from the truck, but somewhere down the side bar there are two new blogs that recently invaded cyberspace with video… yes, video… no, not me in video, but video… VIDEO?... yes, video… … … . . . . . . … ok, now that you've recovered, you may as well know… one is about videos randomly found around the net (mostly on myspace until i learn to download and embed videos from other places) that somehow reach me in some meaningful or nonsensical or ridiculous or serious or some way… the other is, ummmm, well… random pop videos…
you might have noticed the hint now, aye?... well anyway, we'll get to that hint again later... the video me starts out as the depository of video influences and amusements and pseudo-representative visual fodder found on the web and presented with a smile, smirk, or even scowl as the shoe fits, or doesn't… maybe even a tear, but we don't have to discuss that just now… you will thrill at each new re-re-re-release and quiver with anticipation as you watch the selections over and over until the next pops up, of course… just try to focus and stop drooling, at least during the videos…
someday, when this blog is famous and posterity reviews it, they'll be wondering who actually put up with all this crap, but that's neither here nor there right now, so nevermind and continue lavishing your affections and attentions…
yes, and the second new blog brings you (ah, the hint, right?... now don't be too surprised), random pop news… I'll give you a few moments to compose yourself… … … . . . . . . … ok, so we can get on with this entry now that i've subtly hinted about something new happening in the written gardens… shhhh, we wouldn't want to think i was desperately begging for word-spreading excitement or blatantly pleading for more attention, now would we…
anyway, fast portability is definitely not an option with this laptop as unplugging it for thirty seconds reduced the battery to 90% and if I tested it, I'd estimate it would not last more than five minutes before complete shutdown… of course that is running as a desktop (power mode) with seven programs open on the task bar and who knows how many running in the background and the seven programs includes a dozen Firefox tabs with some graphical web pages and Outlook Express and iTunes and so… the battery sucks… I did explore finding a new one, but was not able to find one online… it's a Midern sag168168 D400V/D470D 3.20MHz 1GB RAM machine, if that helps anybody…
there, that ought to have changed the subject and covered up my egocentric self-humiliations sufficiently to carry on babbling as if nothing self-superfluous or naked ever happened…
so how are those meetup intros going, ric?...
why thanks for asking, adoring fans (cheesy, but humble grin)
several meetup intros:
After years on the night shift where social life deteriorates to nil, I work 9-5 again. I came to meetup with hope for finding friends, activities, fun, and the infinite possibilities of life. Yeah, I'm a dreamer - but I'm not the only one, right? :)
avatar meetup intro:
I smiled when I read information about Avatar on a couple of sites. I wonder if all the "Avatar Masters" come together in group or whether it is an individual enterprise or franchise for each of them. Either way, stay real and positive.
organic food meetup intro:
I joined meetup to find local friends. Here, I may be challenging myself to change my eating habits, I know I want to change lifestyle habits after a few sedentary years on the night shift. So here I am, influence me (or just be my friend :)
meanwhile, in subliminal political news, once again Texas provides us with someone doing something macho for no apparent reason… a man pulls a helicopter with his ear in this cheaply made news footage (complete with 15 second obligatory commercial)… what i found amusing was the still photo that lead me to the video… note how his brains pop out of his head in this photo… I wonder if the president did this while he was a macho guy from Texas… it would explain much…
and then, there's this news story…
I am writing to you about "The Golden Compass", religious oppression, and the folly of your decisions regarding both.
Don't you see that the religious right will protest anything that does not preach their religious beliefs? They prove it by protesting the editing you did to placate them. Why empower a specific religious sect at all, unless you yourself are promoting one religion over another and disguising it as art?
How much control over your life and art do you want to give a specific religious group in a country was founded to oppose religious oppression and that stands for religious freedom?
We do have a pretty big law protecting religious freedom, in case you forgot.
Consider how foolish New Line Cinema looks now. You bent over to accommodate religious pressure and they the same religious people you tried to placate are shoving your support of them right back up in your face.
Absolute power controls absolutely. Keep giving one religious sect the absolute power they want and you destroy the fundamental tenets of our constitution.
So much for going to see a movie and enjoying a beautiful fantasy story. I'll stick with reading the book.

yes, that was my respond, in email, to that news story… and that, dear wonderful treasured readers, is the blog entry for tonight… i shall listen to some Michael Watts (peaceful beautiful smiling music) now and drift off to laundry on a cloud of cheer)... that thing about last night that was supposed to wait for tomorrow, which is today, will just have to wait until tomorrow again, or whenever… for now, let's just say it was a Saturday night out with freethinkers, followed by a Sunday morning of wandering the web (myspace, meetup, and youtube) and an afternoon dining experience at a fine establishment followed by holiday shopping at a local odd lot store followed by a visit with you, here, so special and cherished time that it is… oh, and a couple of new blogs happened…
be smiling, if you please, and may all your xmases be jolly, but meaningful too :)
