possible reprieve
for United Online, that is... I found someone at the 1. new account option on their voicemail (their billing department and technical service department were still closed) and the guy seems to have helped me...
though I am out the money I overpaid for the last ??? months because they lowered their rates but didn't bother telling anyone paying higher rates... so I overpaid for however many months and they still cancelled the account...
the guy said they sent me emails... ah, emails... I get more than 10MB of SPAM email at that service's account each day, which fills my account and all the rest bounce, so their emails bounced... for the past two years when I called nobody seemed to be able to help me fix that, so I got used to not using the email accounts I paid for there... this guy may have given me a solution (time will tell, if I start checking my email more often... I've gotten in the habit of checking maybe once month, which fits right in to my lack-of-time life these days... but maybe)...
the guy also cleared up (at least I think he did... last time I did the same things the system somehow reset and all the fixes I saw while on the phone with the tech support people were gone within days) some other issues, like the fact that they've had my domain name listed as expired for the past two years when it has been paid for through 2014 (providing the world does not end in 2012 or before)... and he helped me set up some pop mail accounts and some other stuff so maybe I'll have good things to say about them IF the fixes last and when the advertising and pop-up windows stop assaulting my eyes when I go to my site...
apparently they had the wrong expiration date on the credit card they had been charging for the past seven years... yes, seven years a customer and click, deleted... I asked them to pick up the phone next time, since they insist they need my telephone number for credit card verification right there on their sign up and payment pages...
so anyway, that's what I've been up to all morning... I am a happier camper about my website now (maybe I'll actually start trusting them and using it by consolidating all my sites there, if all goes well with the fixes and billing for the next few weeks)...
the jury is much pleased, but still out...
hope your day started off with less challenge and gets as sun-shiney as mine has... I think I am going to play with myspace for a little while cuz I feel like goofing off the rest of the day...

i just switched to dreamhost and i LURVE them so far. i was with infinology for 2 years, but as of late, they'd stop answering support tix and were just hideously annoying ... going down unannounced all the time ... going down and taking their own business site down as well ... not confidence building.
but dreamhost seems very very cool. :)

It's no so bad if you got speaker phone (or secretary) to connect you por put you through while you get on with other things.
