yesterday was Wednesday
so I’ve been writing elsewhere again instead of sleeping this week and so I went to work groggy again, stopping along the way for cupcakes cuz dessert was the stuff I was supposed to bring to the pot luck holiday meal at work and I bought twenty four regular sized cupcakes and twenty four mini-cupcakes and six tubs of cool whip (chocolate and french vanilla) and that was my contribution... the people who were designated as the entree preparers copped out so we did not have enough entries (in fact, all we had was turkey and far from enough turkey to feed everybody)... you might say the entree preparers were turkeys...
after getting some work done in the morning, including some pat-on-the-back emails to essential players in our organization, including the uncooperative, paranoid, and rude data and finance person in the front offices who has most of the managers and others frustrated because he will not pass along vital admissions information on a consistent basis... we shall see if he has any positive social skills whatsoever by his reaction, if any, to my email...
it was a morning for tying up loose ends, giving summary reports on problem areas in data handling, and sending emails of appreciation... and I finally started to CC my boss because it may take a meeting with my boss and her boss and someone higher at the corporate office to get the state data right because the state database is wonky and the state liaison does not seem to understand the meaning of the data and how his solution skews the meaning of the data to a point where it is meaningless for tracking patient outcomes or the results we get in our hospital...
so the state guy received an email from me detailing what is wrong with his end of the data that we are supposed to enter and as with the guy in our front office and my supervisor, the ball is in their courts... I like it when I am waiting for a return of serve cuz it means I’ve got my side of the work figured out and it’s off my plate and there’s nothing to do but wait for someone else’s decision... even better, once we iron out the state database, nobody will bug me cuz they don’t want me to point out what they are not doing in their jobs anymore...
after getting home, stuffed from the meal at work, I nodded off and watched TV with Rasputin and when he left the room I flipped through the channels and found Just Like Heaven and sure enough, I was all gushy at the end... if you haven’t seen it, then skip the next line (quit, avert your eyes, leap to the next paragraph, you can do it)... the simplest of predictable happy endings, but sometimes those are just right...
then I rambled on the computer and slept some more and that was yesterday, which was Wednesday, in spite of the date you may see if this entry is ever archived as a separate page... hope you enjoy this holiday if you celebrate it... I do not because it, like Columbus Day and War Holidays, is nothing to celebrate in my mind... though giving thanks is a good thing, that can (and should) be done all the time... but playing out the peace between white men and natives is a white man’s fantasy I do my best not to support... if you must know, I consider it more a day of mourning than celebration, but then, I tend to see things from the native perspective... I mention this because anyone expecting a reciprocal holiday greeting might be disappointed if you don’t understand where I’m coming from...
so enjoy Thursday for any reason you choose because it is Thursday, another day to love and share in your life... and may all your Easter Eggs be non-white...

that you found the link before me only proves that you are the greater genius (or that you had more surfing time today), but your genius is a well known truth in my illusion of life, the universe, and everything...
a wonderful life continues to be a storybook fairy tale in my head and that provides the bliss I feel so it's real and beaming out of every pour... perhaps a bit of oozing too...
