back to life
life in corporate america is so much fun :)
coming home to an exploding head, i napped and then sat at the computer and started responding to comments and realized it was a long way off from catching up, but i started anyway and appreciate your patience and as i was commenting (or starting to) i wrote this (which becomes the rest of today's entry):
staying home tonight due to a headache brought on by not eating today and the ensuing sugar/chocolate/food withdrawal and accomanying tummy ache that makes the thought of food unpleasant which is the ultimate result of the bloat and extended sleeplessness i exist in these days... and after a nap, not much changed, so i am torn between using words to distract me and the pain in the eye sockets and frontal lobe that may or may not be exacerbated by focusing on reading and writing...
so instead (about 110 minutes later), i took a hot shower and discovered that the hot water heater needs adjusting because i should not be able to stand under the hot and yet, it's one of thos horribly designed faucets that just add hot to the cold increasing pressure and water wastage because the hot and cold water are controlled by the same turning knob... stupid waste of money and water and alas, no steamy hot showers... that should have been when i moved out...
so then i went for a walk a quarter way around the massive "block" this property shares with several other apartment developments, a few communities, a couple of strip malls, a hotel or two, a library, a comunity center, a few businesses and a gas station, at least... and this is the far end of the suburbs that had nothing but the university just ten years ago... finding the traffic distracting (we are directly across from a huge outdoor mall and surrounded by massive housing developments that were not here ten years ago either), i turned around and wandered the property... no hot tub...
so much for steaming the headache away with hot water... ok, so this property is a massive compromise on some details of luxury i should be able to get for this price, but laziness is probaby going to keep me here as i believe i have the roach situation under control... ridiculous to say that after just one full day back, but laziness is a powerful force...
so i went into the gym and got on the eliptical machine... one eliptical machine... three threadmills, a few bikes of various shapes, a dozen different exercise machines, but one eliptical... need i mention that the eliptical is my machine of choice?... well, 9pm on a friday night and nobody is in the gym is a mixed blessing... first, i get what i want... but on the other hand, do i live with a population of fat lazy out of shape people or maybe a lot of kids who go out a lot... anyway, whatever, i got the eliptical...
it's probably elliptical, but being that i no longer have ms word and now type in notepad, so goes the spelling and typos and whatever...
out of shape is an understatement, in spite of playing softball several times a week... human bodies are ridiculous machines... no matter how much work goes into them, stop the extreme exercise for just a few months and gain a few dozen pounds and the stamina is gone, the muscles atrophy, and the machine needs all sorts of oils and repairs and work... ah, yes, i know, i am still in much better shape than most people at this point along the timeline of life, but still, bodies should be more retentive...
yeah, so how was your day in your body? :)
