time for others
along the way I was hijacked to help someone fix their scanner and then, as I sat down at my desk, the phone rang and I was off to help someone else fix a spreadsheet and while there, print some photos with their new printer... while at that task, someone else asked me to make an organizational chart for improving communication so I did get to do some work at my desk after all... after the chart was done I was able to squeeze in a little time for my work, but then decided that since the day was gone anyway, it was time for a meeting with my boss about improving information flow and organization (hey, the organizational chart wasn't my idea, but since I created it I figured I'd use it to stick my two cents into the idea pool)...
I think I have a great boss...
it was after 5pm by then and I decided to stay a bit late to get a few things done when a Code 10 was called... a Code ten means a patient was outside of the hospital and trying to run away... I helped carry the patient back inside where he then proceeded, with the help of some inexperienced staff who said the wrong things at the wrong time in the wrong way to the wrong kids) to trigger a half dozen others... and an hour and a half and some physical escorting of several patients to various quiet rooms later, I was sitting back at my desk drying off the perspiration... that's four days out of five I didn't need to get to the gym to get a good workout... the universe is obviously telling me something... and laughing...
when I finally got home, around 7pm, Precious was not a happy camper asking when Rasputin was due home because she had some shopping she had to get done... I called him, no answer, so I took her shopping for a The Grapes of Wrath at Barnes & Noble and some stuff at Target and then stopped for subs for dinner... $100 I didn't expect to spend tonight, but Precious was a happy camper and has what she needs to skate through school tomorrow and the rest of the week...
and then, finally, I got home and caught the tail end of Dead Like Me (which I missed last week in order to go to a concert, as you may recall) and I realized all the more how much I enjoy the view, characters, and idea of that show and then I came here while a re-run of Eureka plays in the background...
sleep would be good now, but me-time is better...
while at the store, I saw Sarah Maclachlin has a CD out... if I saw it for $12 or so I'd have picked it up as my treat to myself, but the $19 price was not right in my mind... Barnes & Noble is not the place to buy a CD... I still haven't gotten to the computer stores to pick out a computer and see if they'll give it to me on credit yet... and I haven't gotten to the library to see if they have the Consumer Reports or PC Computing or other computer rating... and I haven't been to the gym in weeks, but I will get about eight hours sleep tonight for the first time in a couple of weeks... I think... and that is good news...
just before the concert started last night (inside the House of Blues) my phone rang but the screen said "Withheld"... it was kinda loud in the club so I doubt I'd have heard anything... I don't know anybody named Withheld, but I was adopted by an Oscar Held once upon a time... he named me Ricky Held, in fact, but there was no on named With in that family... of course I don't remember meeting any of that family as the Held clan, except for the name they left me for a while, was gone from my world before I could walk... but that's another story...
so dear Withheld, if you are reading this, call again, ok?...
and that, except for the note about the concert phone call, was my day in RealTime™... much accomplished... tomorrow I'll try to get some of my work done at my primary job... and one of these days I'll get back to the gym and get back to babbling behind the candoor and find time for me and rhymes again and I'll find my partner in life and everything and get to the computer store and maybe even get a little more of what comes around, whatever it is...
cuz it's fun, life I mean, cuz I love helping others and feeling needed and putting smiles on people's faces and hopefully making the world a little better than I found it... there was even a fair amount of appreciation today... and maybe that is what comes around... so today was a yay day...
hope your day was a yay day too J

Hi Candoor,
well I guess the good thing
about chasing patients
and running at work
saves on 'gym time'
more time to shop with precious
more time to do other things too
Every cloud has a silver lining.
So is that a big hospital
or are you getting ready for the
next project at another place?
the hospital is 120 beds and additional outpatient services... the new project is because we were sold to a new parent company in September and they've got some new systems they are gradually implementing...
