xmas again

so the cleverest of people pass my brightly decorated office with all the holiday cards on the door and love in the air and candy on the desk and garland around and, in most serious of tones, ask:

did you get the memo, ric?
xmas is over

and people laugh and enjoy the humor, me first, especially when i pop back with something like:

you know i don't read memos
or
no, could you read it to me again?
or
is it time for Halloween already?

more laughter, especially from those who recall i only took down the Halloween decorations in order to put up the xmas and various other solstice holiday decorations... and they still come by often to fish through the candy jar on my desk, asking if i have any more of their favorites stashed away just for them, cuz, after all, why can't it be xmas the whole year through? (someday i'll find the rhyme i wrote when hope was so much fuller and dreamier, perhaps lightly influenced by the similarly themed song that is not included in the youtube below)...

i hope you take a moment to breathe, to giggle, to fart, and to dance now and then... and wander off the beaten path when you least expect it because, when all is said and done, that's where the miracles are found (in the giggles too)...
