I'm still alive
work was fine, left early but before I did, more pizza and today, Greek pastries... that's besides the usual boxes of chocolate and goodies floating around the place... my officemate and I are planning to cut out all the sweets and drop poundage after the new year... we shall see if we follow through...
home was sleepy, nodded off between the college bowl games... dinner was mac and cheese, good old comfort food... and ice cream, of course... and here we are, brief, just the facts, life at home...
nite nite J

You didn't say how high your sugar was. Is this the first time, or is it usually high?
Get thyself some milk thistle for the elevated ALT.
Sigh. High cholesterol and triglycerides. We all know what to do about that. It's the follow through that's hard.
My body hates me again tonight, so I'm running around giving medical advice I have no business giving.
Love you, yay you...no more ice cream and pizza tonight, k?
Hi Candoor, best wishes for the final moments of this year, and much merriment, great joy and great cheer to see in the incoming Year
milk thistle for high ALT?... noted and filed in the part of the brain that hopefully wakes up when shopping... these liver blood test results could be a side effect from the Diovan HTC I take as they started showing up after I started taking them... fasting glucose went up from 199 to 126... only thing is I wasn't exactly fasting and was consuming uber amounts of sugars all week right up until the night before... still, it's something to keep an eye on and I'll play by the rules for the next test and fast 12 hours plus...
cholesterol is 193, which isn't horrible considering my diet has consisted of heavy fats and sugars and cholesterol-filled cakes and stuff for a few weeks... or is that months?... that shows way more in triglycerides at 266, but at least that's down from 282 during the summer...
milk thistle... yup... and drop 20+ pounds by the end of February... and most of all, get back to regular exercise to kick start the metabolism and increase the muscle to fat ratio again... and try not to eat a gallon of heavy chocolate high fats rich creamy sugar-enchanced ice creams in two nights (or two gallons in a week :)
Q - thanks and many happy new years to you :)
I'm not at all comforted by these numbers. Hmmm...the trouble of course with blood glucose testing when done in a lab with other tests is you don't know how long the blood is sitting around before being tested and so notoriously the glucose number gets messed up. But that is awfully high, even if you weren't fasting. The 126 I could maybe justify, but 199? Not liking that. And combined with high triglycerides, you are probably one of those syndrome X peeps (they haven't come up with a fancier name yet...it really is called syndrome X), especially considering your attraction for chocolate and ice cream and other similar confections.
And yes, milk thistle for liver, preferably a brand called Thisylin. The Europeans know these secrets that we Americans just don't. So I took it for my liver enzymes, which brought them back to normal within 6 months. Don't know if it will do the same for you, but it is safe for long-term use, and will protect your liver from toxins anyway, so it can't hurt and just might help.
So I'll keep encouraging the exercise and diet, only cuz you are so so loved...and especially now that you are the guru of z and I (is that like the King and I?), we gotta keep you fully functioning and healthy.
Happy New Year's Eve :)
